Frequently Asked Questions:
Q:How is acupuncture different from normal massage?
A:Acupuncture is able to reach deep into the tissues, specifically affecting the meridians, thereby unblocking trapped energy/qi and restore the systemic flow of qi throughout the body. This sort of treatment has much more long-term beneficial effects compared to normal massage. For this reason also, acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of conditions other than muscle tension, such as insomnia, anxiety, fertility and indigestion.

Q:Do the needles hurt?

A:Needles we use are very thin and smooth, so when they are inserted you feel only a slight sensation or nothing at all. Once the needles are in place, you may feel a sensation of heaviness, warmth or tingling at and around the site of the needle. This is an indication that the needle is in the meridian.

Q:Are the needles safe and clean?

A:Yes, when performed by qualified, licensed Acupuncturist, Acupuncture has proven to be extremely safe. All needles used are pre-sterilized, pre-packaged and disposable to eliminate the risk of contamination.

Q:What kind of after care should we do after the needle?

A:We do not recommended doing anything too strenuous as the body needs a bit of time to rebalance itself. Also try to drink two or three extra glasses of water following the session to allow for any toxins to be flushed out.

Q:How many treatments will I need?

A:The number of treatments you will need really depends on your overall health, your body's response to treatment, and the nature and duration of your illness or injury. Usually within 2 to 3 treatments we  would be able to tell you how many more treatments you will need.

Q:Is Acupuncture Covered by Insurance?

A:You can use your private healthfund if your level of cover do includes acupuncture. For the type your heallth insurance cover please contact your insurer. We have a HICAP facility so you can claim on the spot if you are covered.
